About

You drive, ride or walk. That's it, for now: no missions, no timers, no scores. The world is real. It's generated from OpenStreetMap and national elevation data, so the roads, fields, forests, rivers and towns are where they are on a map. The first place is Głowno, a small town in central Poland, 6 × 6 km of it. The look is pastel and quiet, in the spirit of Over the Hill and art of rally.

It's an indie game I intend to sell (itch.io and Steam are the plan). The browser version on the site is a demo of where it is now.

What's in it

PieceWhat it is
The worldA generator turns national elevation models (GUGiK's 1 m lidar in Poland) and OpenStreetMap into game tiles on the EU's pan-European grid, so places built apart join at their edges. Głowno has 1,669 roads, 11,051 buildings, 112,388 trees, 39 bridges and 18 culverts, its railway (16 tracks) and 196 street lamps, in 29.7 MB of tiles that stream in as you drive
The map editorA desktop program (Rust and egui) that fixes what open data gets wrong (bridge levels, roads, junctions, the ground, lamps, trees, buildings), kept as a layer the generator applies on every build
The skyThe sun and the moon where they really are for any date and time, seasons that turn the trees, and weather from clear to storm. One key syncs the clock and the weather with the real world (MET Norway's forecast), kept up to date every five minutes
Getting aroundFive cars with a raycast suspension, a Pacejka tyre model and grip per surface and weather, an EV with regen and a battery, a bicycle with eight gears and a dirt bike, both leaning with their rider, and bikes carried on the cars. Or on foot: five paces, stairs and kerbs, sitting down
The phoneA camera whose pictures carry real EXIF (the real place, the direction, the game's time, the lens), a gallery, the map, Fitness for walks and rides, the weather, a flashlight and the game's notifications
ModsPacks in a folder, checked before they load: cars, places, outfits, weather and scripts, on the same registries as the game's own content
The platformGodot 4.7 on gasm: one engine module for macOS, Linux, Windows and the browser (the engine 32 MB, the game about 3 MB, the land about 0.6 MB a square kilometre as you drive)

Status

Version 0.7.1. Next: finishing the walking (water, a gamepad button), the Garage (a car editor for your own vehicles), and the details of the real world (kerbs, fences, roof shapes, bridge piers). The roadmap's motto: mechanics and features first, looks later.
